"It is a lamp that works, and works well", What can I say? Nothing too fancy. It is a lamp. And it works well. I read some other reviews which complained about the on-off switch not being on the base. With all due respect, almost all of the desk lamps I have used in the past did not have an on-off switch on the base. And I am not so lazy to get up from the chair to switch off the lamp, and honestly, I don't have to even if I do feel lazy at some point of time. I can easily reach to the switch on the wiring from my chair to switch it off. It all depends on how you set it up on your desk. It is a good lamp. It has a large base with a lot of space to keep your stationery. That is a good feature. The bulb that comes along with the lamp is a good one. It is bright yet it does not emit much heat. The lamps I have used in the past made me feel like I was burning in hell. But, that is more the feature of the bulb rather than the lamp. Hey, but still...they give you the bulb for free with the lamp, instead of being cheap-scape. So, to sum it up, it is a good lamp with good large base that does not emit much heat. I am happy with it. And the price is very reasonable. The worse lamps I have bought before cost more.

"why would you buy this???", By buying this lamp, you are locking yourself into buying an uncommon and expensive bulb. Just buy a regular lamp with a screw-type bulb and you can put the cheap cfls in there instead of some crappy $15 cfl (which this lamp requires).

"Odd Place for the Switch", I echo the other reviewers' comments about the switch being at an odd location. No matter where I have put this on two different desks it is very awkward and requires leaning down and over the other items that may be around it in order to cut it on and off. Otherwise it is a nice lamp that I can use as the main lamp in my small home office without having to burn the overhead just to read or see my copy as I am typing from it.

"Non-standard lightbulbs required. Not a regular bulb socket.", Buyer beware. This lamp does NOT take regular compact fluorescent light bulbs. The bottom of the bulb has these two tiny metal circles on it, that connnect to the lamp. Whenever this lamp stops working, i will definitely buy a different brand that takes regular bulbs.

Amazon even suggested that i buy a box of compact fluorescent bulbs made by the same company. Of course, these bulbs don't even work with this lamp! Good job Amazon! Guess i'm not the first (and probably won't be the last) person who falls for that one!

Terrible purchase overall.

"Good for the Price", This is an inexpensive light and I got the quality that I expected. I agree with the other reviewers on the switch location, but on my desk, it works. It is a very bright light, so don't buy if you want something that could bounce off a computer screen.
