GS1 Application Identifier Parser
Logistics and healthcare labels carry several pieces of data in one barcode, each starting with a two to four digit Application Identifier (AI): (01) product number, (17) expiry date, (10) batch, (21) serial number, (00) pallet number, (310n) weight, and many more. Paste the data and this tool splits it up, explains each part, reads the dates and checks the check digits.
Both forms work: with brackets, (01)09506000134352(17)261231(10)ABC123, or the raw text from a scanner. In raw text, variable length elements are ended by the separator character (ASCII 29); you can also type <GS> or {GS} where it belongs. Make such a label with GS1-128, or build a web version with GS1 Digital Link.
Common Application Identifiers
- (01) GTIN of the trade item, 14 digits. (02) GTIN of the items inside.
- (10) batch or lot, up to 20 characters. (21) serial number, up to 20.
- (11) production, (13) packaging, (15) best before, (17) expiry date, all YYMMDD.
- (00) SSCC, 18 digits, identifies one pallet or parcel.
- (310n) net weight in kg; the last digit n says how many decimals the 6 digits have.
- (37) count of units, (400) customer order number, (410) ship-to location.
The list covers the identifiers most labels use. An unknown identifier is flagged, not guessed.
